Meandering with mushrooms...

Our Frances and I went for a walk on Sunday morning to look at the glorious autumn colours on some of our favourite trees. However it soon became plain, that it was more a meander with the mushrooms.

Every few steps we had to stop and marvel at another marvellous display of them. Some of them were even growing high up on the sides of trees as well as underfoot.

Needless to say, I’m afraid we didn’t know what any of them were called, so we just admired them from a safe distance. We both have some reading up to do.

It was very slippy and slidey underfoot after all the torrential rain we have been having. Luckily we had the most marvellous walking sticks which were lent to us by Grande Empress Gillian. They belonged to her lovely Mum and Dad who were keen ramblers and they made such a difference on the steeper banks and slopes.

These shots were all taken without filters and as you can see the colours were amazing. Frannie couldn’t resist using a filter on this one below of me examining some moss . I look like a psychedelic Gandalf. Which is no bad thing to be fair.

Maybe what we need is a helpful sweatshirt like this wonderful one from Batch 1 to help us identify those fabulous fungi on our walk next week.
