The grown ups will take it from here...

The dream team of Miuccia Prada and Raf Simmons had a very unexpected dream team of their own last week to open their Menswear Prada 22 show in Milan.

Jeff Goldblum and Kyle MacLachlan were among the actors to walk for Prada in the fashion house’s Milan Fashion Week show todayt, which was the second physical runway show to be held by it since designer Raf Simons joined the company in 2020.

Walking the runway in front of a socially-distanced audience of over 200 people, Twin Peaks and Portlandia star MacLachlan opened the show, while the iconic Goldblum ended it ( hard to believe he is 69 now)

The collection was designed to ‘elevate versions of every day pieces’ and the show featured eight other actors, chosen by the designers to represent “real men, recognized figures,” enhancing reality. Let’s be honest a little reality is no bad thing. Just because you are older doesn’t mean that you are no longer interested in fashion or style…

Outerwear and work clothes formed the backbone of the collection, sturdy, durable pieces. Statement pieces like long overcoats were trimmed in technical mohair, thick along the hem, and ringing the upper arms. At times, shoulders were accentuated, and a belt pulled tight at the waist for maximum form.

“We were thinking about meaningful fashion, pieces that make sense. Clothes that make people feel important, and that are therefore, in themselves, important, not something to discard.’’

As we all think about returning to the office again, Prada were looking to also create clothes to reflect new energy and the new reality we all face.

Make a wee cup of tea and watch the collection and see what you think…

Just like life, fashion uh, finds a way…
