Holding on to memories...

Last week was My Dads birthday, My Mum and Dads wedding anniversary followed by the anniversary of his passing in 2019.

Growing up, my Mum didn’t have photographs on display, she always joked that you only got your picture up when you were ‘deid’ 🤣 In remembering that, I don’t have any pictures of them up in the house, instead I have cushions of them both on the couch. My mother never met a cushion she didn’t like. The apple doesn’t fall far…

So it goes without saying that I have been flood with memories these last couple of week.

Memories feature prominently in the work of the artist Valeria Duca. The work below is called ‘Holding on to memories’

Born in Moldova, Valeria started painting at a very young age. At 17 she moved to the UK, where she studied Art History at the University of St Andrews. She now lives and works as a painter in Oslo, Norway. Her works have evolved over the course of her sixteen-year career, from expressive abstract painting towards figurative realism with a slightly unsettling surrealistic edge.
