All about the agate...

I wear a lot of crystal and semi precious jewellery. Usually as a necklace and on a simple cord around my neck. Every now and then I am drawn to something new without knowing why. The last couple of weeks that ‘something’ has been Moss and Dendritic Agate.

Maybe it’s simply because it reminds me of trees and you know how I feel about them. In fact it is often called ‘ tree agate’

Dendritic Agate is also known as the Stone of Plentitude. It brings abundance and fullness to all areas of life, from business to agricultural endeavours.  It was associated with the ancient Greek dryads, woodland and tree spirits, and was often buried in the fields at the time of sowing to insure a good harvest.

It goes without saying there is lots of it to be found online but some of the sweetest pieces I have come across come from Mirabelle.

This UK company produce handmade, Fair Trade designer jewellery, made with love and soul. Mirabelle founder Véronique Henry has travelled extensively throughout her life, gaining a unique perspective in creating and sourcing jewellery. The daughter of a Parisian silversmith, Véronique's passion for South East Asia is translated in the intricacy and vibrant colour combinations of her designs, fusing ethnic and contemporary aesthetics.

With a strong belief in the power of jewellery to uplift the spirits, hercollections are imbued with symbolism and meaning, from crystal stones to ancient talismans.

Dendritic agate is believed to facilitate communication with nature. It is associated with the protection of the earth, rain, prosperity, abundance, healing, restoration and creativity. It said to improve self-esteem and emotional balance. You can read more about its properties here

Hope you are having a good weekend.
