Occulter is the online brainchild of Derrick R. Cruz, who is the creative force behind Black Sheep and Prodigal Sons.

The shop offers a plethora of interesting objects, 'curated' by Cruz, which he feels have a unique or unusual contribition to the customer. It's a shop and gallery combined, but everything is for sale.

As the name would suggest, there is a darkness to everything in the shop. It sells everything from black honey to black tooth brushes to "shamanic" inspired jewellery.

It is described as "the careful curation of artful objects and media. This includes: exclusives from Black Sheep & Prodigal Sons; art exhibitions under the Occulter Exhibition Series; a revolving selection of exclusive printed matter; challenging audio recordings from local and international acts; and other specialty items.".

Lofty statements about 'curating' aside, the shop is filled with beautifully dark objects.

Needless to say, the jewellery is the most exciting element for me. Everything has that textural, rough, 'found' aspect fI love so much, which makes it seems like it's uneathered treasure. In this instance, from ancient civilisations.
