Eternal questing...

The eternal quest.

We all have them.

Some last longer  and are more extensive than others !

For  as long as I have known her, Queen Michelle has been on the hunt for the perfect something. For many years it was for the perfect jeans, now she has added the perfect pointe shoes to her questing.

The Grande Empress is currently on the hunt for the perfect sofa while Our Frances has been on the hunt for the perfect necklace for the longest time now. This perfect necklace must be something that she can wear every day. So while it must be quirky and charming, it must not be too large or heavy.

Finally I think I may have found the perfect talisman for her - a hummingbird...

The Aztecs wore hummingbird charms to give them energy, vitality  and hope. One  Mayan legend says the hummingbird is actually the sun in disguise, and he is trying to court a beautiful woman, who is the moon.

One of the widespread beliefs is that hummingbirds, in some way, are messengers between worlds.  As such they help shamans keep nature and spirit in balance.

And let's be honest we could all do with some more balance in our lives.

The most perfect little hummingbird necklace I could find comes from Silver Fig.

Small £50           Large £80

In 2010 Neil and Heather Miller decided to leave behind their life in London to embark on an adventure in Neil's home country of South Africa with the dream of starting their own silver jewellery company - Silver Fig

Both of them had worked in the luxury goods industry in London, New York and Paris for companies such as Tiffany & Co, Bvlgari, DeBeers and Asprey and Garrard and  it was with this invaluable experience behind them teamed with  a spirit of adventure that  saw them set off on an adventure.

Their ensuing travels through Africa and the wildlife they saw have helped inspire the pieces in their collection along with good luck charms and the superstitions behind them.

They now work a small studio in Johannesburg creating the lovely little pieces that are now sold worldwide.

Now that Our Frances is hopefully sorted, what are you on the quest for?
