Forward To Spring
Oh here come the SS14 lookbooks! I still find the speed at which the fashion industry operates a little overwhelming at times. No sooner have I come to terms with having to wear a jumper than we are looking at spring brights and summers whites. Yikes!
Having said all that, I can always find ways to incorporate lighter summer gear into my winter wardrobe. All it takes is a little extra layering.
One of the first SS14 lookbooks to land in my inbox, was from London based label D'Albert. A new label on the scene, D'Albert is the brainchild of Yorkshire lass Julia d’Albert. She began her journey by moving to London to pursue Tailoring at the London College of Fashion, going on to win the prestigious Silver Shears award from the Merchant Taylors’ Company. She later completed post-graduate studies, specialising in Pattern Cutting at Central Saint Martin’s and in 2012 obtained an MA in Creative Couture in Paris.
This is her debut collection, Resurgam.
A small, simple and relaxed collection, it is inspired by Modernist architecture created for the dynasties that settled upon the hilltops of California during the 1950’s. The linear detailing, panels and abundance of bright white, lend the collection more of a sporty feel to me, which is still set to be a big trend for SS14.
