Chunk it up...
Good Morning to you.
While Queen Michelle and Prince B are visiting with The Duchess for a few days, I shall be posting in the a.m. for a day or two.
Yesterday at my mums, Princess Jenny and Laura were both rocking new looks. Princess Laura has had her long hair all cut into a very sophisticated layered gamine cut, which makes her look even prettier while Jenny had on the most glorious knitted cardigan that made her look like she was wearing some Sister by Sibling but in mini me size. Fabulous!
It suddenly occurred to me, that this is indeed the season of chunky knit. It seems to be everywhere I look. On runways, in stores, in wardrobes and most interesting of all, in interiors!
Chunky knit cushions, rugs and throws abound but my most favourite items are the knitted stools by the talented textile designer Claire-Anne O'Brien
Originally from Co.Cork, Ireland, Claire-Anne is a textile designer based in East London. After graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2006 with a BA in Textiles, she went on to gain an MA in Knitted Textiles at the Royal College of Art in 2010. In 2011 she recieved the Future Makers Award from the Crafts Council of Ireland. With a sculptural approach to textiles, Claire-Anne explores form, construction and scale through the unique properties of knitted fabrics.
I love the playful quality of her work and the way she plays with texture, scale and colour and if I were to find a bag of money this week, I would be springing for the Ring stool she made for makers and brothers.
Now isn't that a nice and cozy start to the week.
It surely is...
