all about the alpaca...
Ahhh the universe is a funny old thing.
Up until a month ago, I couldn't have told you much about alpacas at all. But in the last four weeks I have watched about four documentarys about them, the wonderful fleece they produce and the people who herd them. And with the cold, frosty mornings starting to bit this week, I am now longing for an alpaca scarf, hat and mittens.
If I was remotely handy, I would be heading straight over to the glorious Toft and starting work on creating them myself.
Toft are all about alpaca
The textile side of the business takes it's name from the orignal prize-winning alpaca herd and stud established in 1997 which is based in the hamlet of Toft near the village of Dunchurch, in North East Warwickshire. Despite the fact that I cannot knit or crochet a single stitch, I totally adore Toft.
They are dedicated to bringing you fashionable handknits and the chance to knit them yourself.
Their design collection has expanded massively over the last few years from just offering a couple of weights of KNITTING YARN to now boasting their own PATTERN BOOK and their very own haberdashery collection!
Thanks to their amazing wood turners they have their very own branded TOGGLES and BUTTONS made here in the UK from reclaimed furniture. In 2011 they added POM POMS ( and you know how I feel about pom poms)
Their patterns range from the very simple to chic winter luxury for any pooches in your life.
I don't need to tell you how much I aodre the double pom pom hat and how much I am cursing my clumsy fingers right now!
