Well it seems like the fates have been listening to Queen Michelle in her hunt for the perfect red velvet dress that isn't skin tight

Acne have answered her prayers for SS16...

We are massive Acne fans here in The Kingdom but this SS16 collection has Queen Michelle written all over it. Stunning blazers and the most gloriously slouchy silk velvet, this collection brings her an uncompromising and individual mix of masculine tailoring with feminine fabrics, expressive print and a DIY sensibility.

Masculine blazers are subverted by clashing patch pockets, with a crushed velvet lining like a guitar case. Asymmetric miniskirts are gathered at the waist by sneaker string ( I'm no stranger myself to tying up my trousers with a shoelace!), while distressed cobweb knits have their own individuality.

Optical CD print decorates crushed velvet dresses, while a sound wave print zigzags across a linen top Intricate embroideries of guitars in chrome and plexiglass, complete with guitar strings, appear on oversized tailoring.Wide webbing like guitar straps hold together a simple satin dress, while in other looks the same straps fall around the body like a softened harness. Tailored pants are cropped and boxy, while skirts and dresses have rectangular cutaways, as if DIY.

Sock sneakers with lurex details come from ankle to thigh high, while the sole of a platform sandal is as if built up from a different rough cut layers of cardboard. These wouldn't last two minutes in our Scottish weather though!

Two-tone leather bags have wide obi-belt ties at the shoulder, whilst clutches have knot handles. Although if I'm honest these bags look like they would be a pain in the arse to actually use...
