RICK OWENS LEAVES THE REST IN THE DIRT

No matter what your own stylistic aesthetic may be, I think we can all agree that Rick Owens is a genius. You don't have to love what he does, or even like, it but no-one can deny just how exceptionally talented he is. He is one of the most cerebral designers out there and his 'fuck you I'll do what I want' attitude has gathered him an army of obsessive followers. You can spot them, they all pretty much look identical. But it's an army I'd happily join, given an unlimited bank account. The real beauty of Owens though is that his creations are genuinely timeless. Wear anything from any of his collections and it looks like it was made yesterday. I have pieces that were designed in 2011 and they haven't dated even in the slightest.

For SS18 he keeps on keeping on with his collection entitled Dirt. The signature Owens style is here with the addition of a beautiful emerald green. My favourite pieces though are those ones featuring thousands of bugle beads, making each garment look incredibly sculptural as the beads dictate how it moves on the body. It reminds me of my Issey Miyake Bao Bao bag.

The addition of the single legwarmer tickles me as dancer too - step into any ballet studio and you'll see dancers wearing only one legwarmer. That's a look I can do for cheap!

In the final looks of the show though, only one conclusion could be drawn...Rick, you've been binge watching too much Spongebob again haven't you?
