colour me happy...
Growing up I was always baffled when people complained about the adverts in glossy magazines.
I always loved seeing the latest campaigns.
Growing up in grey drab Glasgow, I looked forward to seeing the joyful colour in the Benetton spreads.
Safe to say the colour campaign mantle mantle has easily been picked up by New York label Milly
For its Fall 2018 campaign, creative Director Michelle Smith tapped frequent collaborators Sagmeister & Walsh to create the colorful and vibrant ‘Millychromatic’ campaign that celebrates the beautiful colors of the world. The New York City-based label went literal about the colors, casting women of different ethnic backgrounds and styling them in monochromatic outfits. The models sit in bold coloured outfits in corresponding coloured sections that repeat. Art Director Jessica Walsh of Sagmeister & Walsh uses a duplication trick from the Fall/Winter 2017 campaign in these photos to multiply the six models as the photo stretches out.
“I am a lover of colors. Each color has its own power and meaning; when we wear a color, we vibrate its unique qualities,” said Smith.
Of course the irony is not lost on me that I am sitting writing this clad in black head to toe.
If I am to be tempted into colour this winter ( other than techno green, which doesn't count) it may take the form of a fun fur. I keep looking at them, they are everywhere for not a lot of money.
