KICKSTART MY HEART, VALLI

ALL IT TOOK WAS A FLOUNCY PINK DRESS AND KNEE HIGH BOOTS. 

For pre-fall 2018 Giambattista Valli imbued his collection with a decidedly streetwear edge, having recently launched his activewear line. My own focus has been on house stuff this last month but this collection has ignited some serious fashion inspiration in me. The first pink dress started it all off and the more I looked the more I liked. The collection is an eclectic mix of textures and references and follows no single line of inspiration.

The bouclé pieces have the elegance of Chanel but with extra long sleeves on some jackets and the fluffy slides they feel far more modern and youthful. Tracksuits are given the luxury treatment with macrame detailing and a stunning embroidered floral double breasted suit is teamed with a nonchalant hoodie. This high/low mix is something I absolutely approve of. 

There are also lots of 70's references in there too. I am loving the secretary dresses with those incredible knee high boots. Knee high boots are rarely something that excites me but these are desirable on every level. I'm going to go ahead and assume they come with an eye watering price tag so let's all just move along.

As I've said before, I post collections like this purely for visual inspiration rather than something I expect you to go out and buy. I love the challenge of seeing if I can evoke the feel of high end collections using things I already own or, even better, things I find in charity shops. I for one will looking to find a version of that flouncy pink dress. Oh yes.
