AWAKE ME UP BEFORE YOU GO-GO

for resort 2018, Natalia Alaverdian CREATES A COLLECTION WITH ALL THE A.W.A.K.E. SIGNATURES WITH AN ADDED JAPANESE TWIST

A.W.A.K.E. is one of those labels that just quietly found it's way into the hearts of so many fashion lovers like me. And for Resort 2018 Alaverdian does it again - creates a collection which makes me want pretty much everything. This season she takes us to Japan via Africa with her take on the kimono sleeve with full length, Samuria-esque skirts.

As with pretty much every A.W.A.K.E. collection though, it's the single shoulder detail that steals my heart. A few seasons ago I invested in one of her single shoulder tops, which is absolutely one of the best things I have ever purchased. With different styling it can take upon the look of a Comme des Garcon or Vivienne Westwood creation and is frequently mistaken for such. But more importantly, it's a design that simply won't date - I can envisage wearing it 10 years down the line.

Alaverdian doesn't deal in trends or whims. She uses each season to build upon the last and create a solid lexicon that her customers can rely on. She may introduce a new colour or print, but she never deviates from the foundation upon which the label is built, which is tailoring with added volume play.
