Chen Likes It Cheery
I thought I’d share something bright and cheery as I know Queen Marie is popping over onto the blog every once and a while so let’s give her something fun to look at.
Zhi Chen is the young knitwear designer behind fledging label I-AM-CHEN. Fashion Scout named Zhi as one of their ‘ones to watch’ at LFW. She graduated with distinction from London College of Fashion and launched her label shortly after.
Her SS18 collection, entitled 'Swimming Pool and Lemon' was inspired by David Hockney’s somewhat stark, perfunctory names for his paintings such as 'Man in Shower in Beverley Hills'. The designer has also filtered down those bright and bold colours and simplistic graphic shapes Hockney uses into her knitwear. Painterly shapes are rendered in a mix of matte and reflective wool.
Now all I need to get into the spring spirit is for this damn freezing weather to piss off so I can cast at least one of my jackets!
