MAX MARA'S ROCK CHICK

THE ITALIAN LABEL BRINGS US BACk TO THE 80'S

Max Mara is one of those labels that always feels really American to me, even though it's 100% Italian. I imagine lady CEO's all across the US draped in their camel cashmere coats. I also associate the label with really classic looks and even though I own one piece of Max Mara that is actually really quite edgy, it's an association  I can't shake and find myself paying no heed to their collections each season.

However, I came across one imagine of their AW18 collection and it made me neck snap. It was journey back to the 80's, in other words my own heyday, via every dingy rock and punk club I've ever been in. It spoke to me.

From the first look to the last, it was collection of pieces that have my name all over them. Even down to the heavily lined eyes and nude lips on the models. The fringed top and pencil skirt scenario is a look I'll be emulating for sure but every look is just glossy rock chick gold.

Sheer black, leopard print, red leather, printed tees - hell, I think I probably have 90% of this in my wardrobe already.

The look was 80's but not so much the power-suited version we often see of the 80's. The focus on the punk and rock looks of the age definitely makes it far more appealing to me. After all, you can take the girl out of the rock club but you can't take the rock club out of the girl.
