Welcome To The New World Order

SEPARATING THE SIGNAL
FROM THE NOISE

My lovely friend, Renee Ruin, AKA my sister from another mister, recently alerted me to a brand called The Order. I'd never heard of them before and it's not a young brand, having seemingly launched in 2013. They just passed me by somehow. But better late than never, as the saying goes.

The label is designed by Nicole Maret and based in Chicago. The aesthetic is black with a focus on subtle texture plays.

I have so many pieces in my own wardrobe that have this feel to them - a long sheer blazer, net tops, mesh bralets - pieces that are as timeless to me as they clearly are to The Order.

The shapes are not overly worked or complex, but instead are designed to create a solid foundation upon which to build and elegant, goth infused wardrobe. Everything here would work beautifully with my more intricate Rick Owens pieces.

The garments of THE ORDER are comprised of dichotomous textures and silhouettes, simultaneously monogamous in color but promiscuous in depth. Light meets shadow and stark meets sheer, visually manifesting the spiritual paradox that defines the collection’s core.

Sadly being based in Chicago rules them out for me personally, therefore I can't buy anything so can't report back on the quality or workmanship, but from a visual standpoint the lexicon Marat has created is certainly worth investigating. If you can, buy the crossover top, because that's the piece I'd buy if I could, and I'll wear it vicariously through you.
