take a hike...

I have always loved hiking boots, despite the fact that I couldn’t hike as far as my nearest Tesco.

I think it’s the alpine lacing that appeals to my inner Heidi!

Needless to say, I rather hate that they are having a ‘fashion moment’ when really like a pair of good walking boots they are more of a ‘forever’ type thing.

Forever is a long time, which is why you really need to turn to someone like Kingdom favourites Feit.

Just take a look at their Bamboo Military Hikers…

Their craftsmen are among the most skilled in the world and their Bamboo Military Hiker showcases this fact. The highest level of strength, skill and discipline is required to hand-build this shoe from start to finish.

Craftsmanship and materials are brought to the forefront of this design via an exposed industrial bamboo shank and exposed nails on the sole. They used bamboo for its inherent strength-to-weight ratio; it is one of the strongest natural materials in the world. The vast majority of global footwear production uses metal or plastic as stabilizers. The handsewn Goodyear welted construction—exposed on the toe of the outsole—ensures stability and traction. The inner section of the Bamboo Military Hiker midsole is made of cork that increases breathability and reduces odor as it is naturally anti-fungal. The Vibram® Gumlite lugged outsole will withstand years of heavy wear. The handsewn Goodyear welt stitching is highlighted throughout to further celebrate the quality work of our makers. Each pair comes with a set of alternate black leather and white waxed cotton laces.

Due to the rigorous and lengthy construction process, the Bamboo Hiker is made in a highly limited run.

They are expensive, very expensive at £953 but these will probably be the last hiking boots you ever buy.

On the other hand, or foot, if you are looking for something a little less clumpy, then why not pop over to their site and see what they are making for Spring Summer 2019.

Now if you will excuse me, I’m off to hike into the kitchen for another doughnut …
