Mermaid feet...

So this weekend saw the third TRSMT festival take place on Glasgow Green.

It was a big no from me but it was huge yes from legions of young people who flocked along in bathing suits, fluorescent clothing, floral crowns and fake tan.

Coachella has a lot to answer for.

The most important thing about any festival outfit is of course the footwear. I have always played it safe and stuck with wellies. But I’m guessing Doc Martin must have done their research and have gone big with a launch of ‘Mermaid Docs’ for festival season.

I’m neither the target market or a doc wearer but these make my cynical old heart just die a little more : [

‘Live at full volume. Our Iridescent collection is made from two-tone iridescent scales that demand attention with every step.

‘Here the 1460 boot silhouette is enhanced with flecked laces and brushed silver eyelets, while Docs DNA is cemented with a yellow welt stitch and AirWair heel loop. Rock them at festivals, gigs, parties — and wherever you damn well want.’

As well as the two-tone mermaid scale design the boots, platform boots, shoes and sandals have a rainbow metallic shimmer. You can opt for turquoise or rose gold.

The 1460 Pascal boot comes in at £139 and is available in both colours.

The platformed Molly boot will set you back £169 and comes in a dusty pink-orange.

These would have struck me as the most obvious choice for the blue/green colourway but what the hell do I know.

I still like to see my mermaids with tails…
