"Don't mind the occasional shower..."
Thats what Karine Lunde Trellevik and Ros-Mari Tobiassen Gaundal from BRGN are trying to tell us.
But I have to say, for all of us rain soaked and utterly scunnered here in Scotland, that’s a BIG request ladies!
Norwegian outerwear brand BRGN by Lunde and Gaundal launched in 2015, fuelled by the need for robust rain gear on Norway’s west coast. Now it’s making it’s way to our shores this Autumn.
The brand is named after the city of Bergen, where the founders met and became friends.
WE LIVE IN ONE OF THE RAINIEST CITIES IN THE WORLD. WHEN IT COMES TO RAIN. YOU´VE GOT NOTHING ON US. THIS IS BERGEN. THIS IS WHERE WE LIVE. THIS IS WHO WE ARE. WE WON’T LET THE WEATHER DICTATE; WHAT TO DO, WHERE TO GO, WHEN TO GO. RAIN CAN’T STOP US! IT´S AN ATTITUDE. IT´S IN OUR VEINS. IT BUILDS CHARACTER. IT WILL KEEP ON POURING. WITH RAIN COMES LIFE, OUR WAY OF LIFE. WE ARE BRGN
Styles are windproof and breathable, featuring reflective trims and taped seams. Items appear in three levels of waterproofing – suitable for light rain (April showers), rain (steady winter rain) and heavy rain (downfalls). I’m guessing the last one will be most suitable for the (neverfeckinending) rain we have here in Glasgow.
THE STORY
THEY BOTH ORIGIN FROM THE EASTERN PARTS OF NORWAY, BUT MOVED TO BERGEN ON THE WEST COAST AFTER MEETING THEIR SLIGHTLY BETTER HALVES. AFTER A FEW YEARS IN BERGEN THEY BECAME COLLEAGUES AND FRIENDS.DURING ONE OF THEIR EVENING STROLLS (CRAWLS) UP THE MOUNT FLØYEN, ROS-MARI ASKED KARINE IF SHE HAD ANY DIFFICULTY FINDING A NICE COAT TO WEAR IN THIS BERGEN WEATHER? ONE THAT DID NOT LOOK LIKE TYPICAL RAINWEAR OR EVEN THE “ALLVÆRSJAKKE” THEY SO OFTEN END UP USING IN NORWAY.KARINE HAD TO ADMIT THAT IT WAS DIFFICULT FINDING A COAT SHE LIKED THAT ALSO HAPPENED TO BE WATERPROOF. WITH KARINE BEING AN EXPERIENCED DESIGNER AND ROS-MARI BEING AN EXCELLENT BUSINESS MANAGER, THEY DECIDED TO TAKE THE PROBLEM INTO THEIR OWN HANDS. THIS BECAME THE BRAND, BRGN BY LUNDE & GAUNDAL.
They also do menswear and footwear.
Now I don’t know about Norwegian rain but if you are out and about in Scottish rain without your shoes on like this boy above, you are going to catch your death!
Jut saying…
