Fabric fit for a Queen...
When it comes to textiles, I’m strictly a cotton and silk kind of girl.
Queen Michelle on the other hand is far more experimental. You name it, she’s probably worn it.
She favours three fabrics more than others - Leather, Lace and Latex.
So I naturally thought of her when I came across ‘The Operio Collection’ the latest offering from London fashion label Dead Lotus Couture. Retro womenswear made of natural latex and fake fur, the collection is "inspired by cult cinema, decadent disco and menacing monsters,"
All of which are right up her street, except perhaps for the disco!
Named after the Latin word for "to conceal", the collection features 12 made-to-measure outfits influenced by 1970s disco culture as well as filmmaker Wes Anderson and horror-movie director John Carpenter. "Wes Anderson's quirky vintage styling, John Carpenter's dark thriller aesthetics and the disco era's mirror-ball hedonism strongly influenced the collection's 12 distinct looks…
All outfits are hand-made in London by designer Nange Magro, using the highest quality all-natural latex rubber, sustainably sourced. I wonder if that is why it is so eyewateringly expensive. The BELLUM Mini Dress with Big Puff Sleeves below would set you back £1,120.00.
They are pretty found of creating peculiar videos to launch their collections which they feature on their you tube chanel.
