Asylum

Hannah Vail graduated from Ulster University in 2016. Her collection, Asylum, was driven by innovation. A stunning collection of architectural shapes inspired by the built environment and developed into the uniform of a “futuristic extra terrestrial”.

Hannah uses various levels of translucency and layering, focusing on sculpted yet smooth shapes complimented by voluminous, textural soft pieces, all drawn together by striking a form fitting base layer hood. Refreshing shades of peach and cool greys in unlikely technical fabrics has created a playful take on couture with a sporty edge. Hannah’s natural and unrestricted approach explores the realms of unusual, blurring the line between fashion and costume. Whilst the collection is very futuristic, it reminds of sea creatures. Beautiful, undulating jellyfish.
