Crochet and cake with Kate.

Unlike Queen Michelle, I find myself unable to find sanctuary in fashion right now.

Much as I wish I could.

Instead, I find myself turning to crafts and cakes.

Not created by me ( yes I hear you all breathe a sigh of relief) but those created by others more gifted.

So let’s take a little wander into the world of Kate Jenkins’ A world filled with playful pop-art crochet, knit and embroidery creations. Kate is best known for her food-focused treats, which intertwine her trademark sense of humour with colourful yarns constructed into everything from patisserie pleasures to prawn platters.

“While my journey has been varied and exciting, one thing never changes,” she says. “Whatever I create, whether it’s a carton of French fries, a tin of sardines or a box of frogs I always include lots of warmth and a dash of wit. Above all, I want my work to make people smile.”

Kate learned to knit and crochet as a child in Wales, and shares in an artist statement that she has always been fascinated and inspired by everyday objects and experiences.

In addition to her culinary crochets, Jenkins trained and worked for many years as a knitwear designer in the fashion world.

You can find her freshest bakes on Instagram, and purchase artwork in her online store.

Right get the kettle on and pass me a raspberry tart.

A real one if you please…
