Misconcept/Algorythm
We have featured the beautifully structural work of Ukrainian designer Irina Dzhus many many times on here. Here last two collections are filled with her signature style of simplicity yet innovative design. It all appeals to my current obsession with simple, nun-like pieces in natural fabrics and struct silhouettes.
AW20 MISCONCEPT
The AW20 collection is an irony about classic, stereotypical and 'must-have' clothing styles, which DZHUS have interpreted in a most unexpected way, offering radical yet wearable transformations of the garments.
Reflecting on the shallow and transient nature of today’s fashion, Irina Dzhus aims to draw attention to the lowdown of the industry and comes up with styling stunts as alternative solutions against overconsumption. The designer looks literally between the lines of the trendy silhouettes, deciphering their structure and suggesting multi-purpose upgrades.
SS20 ALGORITHM
The SS20 collection draws inspiration from the structured system of work process, referring to both design development and sequence of the production rituals, poetical in their accuracy. Consistent patterns of actions and regulations are reflected in DZHUS’ pattern-making cult. Reconsidering norms and standards through the prism of her distinctive approach, designer Irina Dzhus comes up with an alternative concept of office attire. Juxtaposing traditional cutting techniques with avant-garde experiments, DZHUS have created a synthesis of innovative design inventions and rich utilitarian potential.
Complex yet minimalistic-looking, the garments offer numerous unexpected transformations, which have already become DZHUS’ creative trademark.
