As of January 1st The UK will officially be entirely isolated from the rest of the world. A sad, little island who’s powers that be still hold on to the archaic belief that Good Ol’ Blighty is some kind of impressive country, like something from an episode of Dad’s Army. We are not. We are not great, we are not powerful. We are just a little island everyone will soon forget about. It’s as tragic as it is self destructive. And this shit show is run by a man any idiot can surely see by now is not fit to lead a dog never mind an entire country.

From January 1st we will no longer be able to shop all those marvelous indie brands all over Europe, without incurring silly amounts of customs charges. I will hugely miss shopping these brands but at least my bank balance will be happy, or not as the cost of living soars as we can only buy British-made things. Ugh!

Anyway, the world is going to hell in a handcart but until that happens I’m going to enjoy beautiful things whilst I can.

Today I’m sharing the work of Laurine BRAYÉ and her leather accessories brand Obso.

All the leather is collected then transformed in a sustainable way in order to limit the impact on environment, following an upcycling logic. Each piece is handmade, crafted in small series with love and care in her Parisian atelier

Laurine always liked music, alternative cultures and handcraft. After 5 years spent learning fashion in Europe, notably in Duperré (Paris, France) and at the Artez Institute of the Arts (Arnhem, The Nerderlands), she dives into leathercraft and specializes in accessories design. Trained in shoemaking, she uses and diverts leather embellishment techniques (folding, upholstery, embroidery) to shape small objects.

Reacting to the leather industry waste, Laurine chose to work only with “forgotten” materials, recycled bits, leather pieces of all sizes and shapes. Laurine finally opened her atelier in the Paris region in 2015, in which she creates ever since jewelry collections mixing her numerous influences.

I have purchased the large articulated armour/corset ring so I’m super excited to see it when it arrives.
