Good Sense And Good Style

Finally, sense has prevailed in the US!

I watched the US Election last week with nail biting anticipation and was utterly thrilled when Biden, and more importantly Kamala Harris, were elected. Not only your first female Vice President but your first female of colour Vice President. Huge strides in the right direction and I’m excited to see what the future holds for the US.

Election aside, I have been daydreaming of days when we can freely move around again, when getting the train into town doesn’t feel like playing Russian roulette with your life. But those days aren’t coming any time soon sadly, so I have just been thinking about things that make me happy. And clothes make me happy.

I’m currently wearing all my summer stuff but making it winter suitable by layering those beautiful white lace dresses I have over jeans, leather and PVC, and under faux fur and big cozy parkas. I’m currently really feeling a hippy vibe at the moment. My inner hippy never leaves, it just shows up once in a while an I need to go with it.

I’m sharing the looks from three designers that are inspiring me at the moment. Some inspiration for now, others inspiration for better weather and better days.

Philosophy Di Lorenzo Serafina SS19

Cream lace, nautical inspired details and grandma’s best china print.

SAINT LAURENT FW19

A voracious mix of prints, sequins and textures with that rock leaning edge that’s been the Saint Laurent lexicon for a long time now. This is currently my biggest inspiration as I’m already starting to dig out my sequins and all the luxurious textures I can find in my wardrobe.

ISABEL MARANT SS20

Isabel Marant never lets me down. In every single collection there are always several pieces that will go onto inform my summer wardrobe choices. Not only that, her summer items are so easily integrated into a winter wardrobe too simply by adding chunky knitwear and jeans or leather. I feel Marant pieces are seasonless. They all look like pieces a Californian girl would wear all year round.
