Have Your Cake And Eat It

As I mentioned in my previous post, so many businesses are being hit hard with lockdown. Not being able to physically open their stores at the busiest time of the year is costing them dearly. However, fortunately many have online stores to augment their bricks and mortar shops and other are purely online.

I was recently asked by a new Glasgow business, The Cake Company, who have an online shop selling handmade brownies boxes which they ship anywhere in the UK, if I wanted to try their brownies. To be honest, I’m not keen on brownies. I only ever bought those mini ones from Tesco in plastic tubs to take to design agencies I’m freelancing at (bringing treats always helps the freelancer become an acceptable new face any any agency). That was as far as my brownie experience went and I assumed that’s just what a brownie tasted like. Dry and crumbly. I accepted the offer purely to give me something to photograph that I wouldn’t usually (food), and to support a new local business by featuring them on my social channels and on here. I never actually expected to enjoy the brownies themselves. Plus, I don’t really partake of sweet treats any more so it seemed like a win/win situation.

Then I ate one.

For the love of god, these are the most incredible brownies I have ever eaten. Infact, I realise now I haven’t ever eaten a brownie at all until then. They are truly truly amazing. I ended up eating two and making Prince B eat the others or I would have eaten the entire box!

These are the Basic Rich but there is nothing basic about them.

They have a load of other kinds of brownies and would make a perfect gift to send to the loved ones you can’t see this Christmas. And trust me when I tell you, everyone I know will be getting a box of these as part of their birthdays!
