View from my window...
Hard to believe that’s us almost a month into lockdown. Some days it feels like a year.
Like lots of people, I’m spending lots of time looking in my cupboard to see what else I can find to eat and even longer looking out of my window. I’m lucky that I can sit at my computer and look out of both my back and front windows, even though they are so much quieter than normal and far from thrilling.
I read about a wonderful group last night called View From My Window
It’s less than a month old and already has more than 1.5 million members all sharing their pictures from their windows all around the world and messages of support for each other.
It was set up by an Amsterdam-based graphic designer and artist called Barbara Duriau.
Because we're all obliged to stay at home, she thought it might be a good idea to share our views, whatever they might be. The results are inspirational and some of them are spectacular.
Obviously not this first one below, that is my front window onto an empty street.
Every view has a story. Some will make you smile. Some will make you cry but it really does all serve to make the world seem a much smaller and much more connected place.
There are thousands of submissions so if you are going to add your own it may take a while.
In the last day, I’ve been to Norway, Brazil, Nova Scotia, Berlin and Dubai…
What’s the view from your window right now?
