Tea with Granny...
Did you now that today was International Champagne Day?
No, neither did I. It seems they have a day for everything now.
I care not a jot about a drop of champagne, but if you are talking about tea then you are assured of my undivided attention.
Just take a careful look at the porcelain mug below. This is no ordinary mug, this is The Granny Cup
At first look, it appears like one of your grandmothers best china cups but a closer look reveals it to be a mug. What an ingenious idea. Much as I love a proper cup, I always feel like my big sausage fingers are too big for the little handle and more importantly it just doesn’t hold enough tea.
Created in close collaboration with Uncle Orange of Studio Kluif - The Granny Mugs. These delicate, characterised porcelain designs are a series of contemporary mugs that represent the meeting of young and old. Each mug and its playful packaging hosts artwork and words that give insight into the life of its previous owner: Trudel, Filou, Alessandra, and Stientje – four grannies who have seen it all and have tales to tell, they also don't mess about when it comes to making the perfect cuppa. The lines are blurred - vintage cup, modern mug
I’m sad to say though that when I looked at ordering myself one, it looks as though they are only available in Benelux ( I had to look that up too, it means Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg).
Right I’m off to put to put the kettle on…
