From Little Things, Big Things Grow
Back In May I featured an amazing jewellery brand called Thorn & Claw. I was thrilled when I found them on Instagram. Her work is filled with nature and her connection to the earth in palpable in each piece she creates.
Looking at her shop for some reason I was drawn to the acorn necklace. Now, normally I’m a claw and bone kinda gal but this acorn just called out to me. Imagine my delight when the designer got in touch with me after coming across the post and offered to send me the acorn necklace. I was so pleased and of course super excited to photograph what I knew was going to be an amazing piece in real life. I wasn’t wrong.
I was so excited I actually bought a matching earring and she kindly made them into a pair for me. I haven’t taken either off since.
Her packaging must also get an honorable mention.
The item arrives in a black posting box with black tissue paper, moss, stickers and a postcard and nestled inside is another black box with a wax seal and raffia ribbon wrapped around it. It’s such an experience opening up the parcel, and you know what’s inside is very special indeed. So much so I have kept all the packaging.
The acorn is symbolises new beginnings, strength and potential. It is also the Nordic and Celtic symbol of fertility and immortality. The god Thor's tree was an oak tree and the Druids believed the consumption of acorns would help them see the future, and the word Druid can be translated as "Oak Knowledge". So these little nuts hold a lot of spiritual and mythical power.
