Adam Ant Went To France And Became A Pirate
Last week I shared my current favourite outfit over on Instagram. Some outfits just bring me silly amounts of happiness and this is one of those. The weather had momentarily brightened and warmed up and it felt even a little like spring. The sun was shining, and going from the house to the car and from the car to Tesco and back again never felt so good! Spring is in the air. Well, not today as I write this because it’s pissing down and freezing, but still, we had a day where it felt like spring was in the air.

I’ve had a strange love affair with red jeans since time began. Queen Marie will remember the great hunt of 2006, where I became obsessed with red jeans but they were a rare, hard find. Then in November of 2006 I featured a yet-to-be-launched jeans brand called Rich & Skinny who would be doing a pair of red jeans. It took a bit of waiting, but I managed to procure those jeans.
Queen Marie was horrified at the prospect of them and at the time wrote “She is on her way home to the palace, bringing with her GOLD jazz shoes and super skinny TOMATO RED jeans! Oh dear lord, I don't know what is going through her head. Strangely we have not yet had a chance to discuss the picture she has in her head. We invariably name every look we have, it's like kingdom shorthand and never fails. But this!!! she could look like an underfed young Mrs Claus or a groovy young thing in a Bob Fosse musical”. Gold brogues and red jeans - Queen Marie was NOT feeling that look at all! But I prevailed.
I’m not sure what Queen Marie feels about this red, gold and black get-up, but for me it’s delightfully Adam Ant in its costume-y excess. An underfed Adam Ant? Perhaps, but let’s call this look ‘Adam Ant Went To France And Became A Pirate’.
