Mad (et Len) About Black Musc
You might recall a couple of weeks ago I introduced you to a beautiful brand called Mad et Len. I was utterly enthralled by their stunning take on pot pourri, which comes in breathtaking iron containers, and home scents that I had to experience their perfume too.
If you can endure the dreadful website long enough to find the perfume - and I’m speaking as a very experienced graphic web designer here - which let me tell you, you have to really want to find it because they make you work for it. But once, or if, you do find their perfume selections they all sound totally captivating. I opted for Black Musc, which they describe as being a “dark talisman”.
The scent itself features dark floral musc, patinated amber and old-aged wood bark. Musk is usually too masculine for me, but this just sounded so beautiful that it was worth the shot. It’s gorgeous. I have never smelled anything like it before. It’s feminine but not sweet and whilst the musk is very present, it’s more the clean, soapy variety of musk which is far nicer than the dusty, masculine version of musk so many perfumes use. It also works layered under sweeter scents. I sometimes layer it with Tom Ford Metallique for a truly gorgeous scent.
This brand really captures everything I love. You get a real sense that they want their customers to have the best experience possible with their products (although it did get held up at customs for many weeks, and actually ended up back with them twice. Luckily they persevered and it eventually arrived). Website aside, they really have created a stunning brand and the black iron containers are beautiful objects in themselves.
