Chemistry as an art form...
There can be very few of you who have not heard us bang on about Molecule 01 one over the years.
It’s made up of just one molecule (hence the name) rather than the thousand that go into a regular perfume. Iso E Super is the aroma-chemical that gets added to a perfume to create ‘allure’ Isolated and used to create a unique fragrance by Geza Schoen in 2006, I’ve always got a bottle on the go.
For years now I’ve been layering it with other things on the top. Usually sandalwood or Cherry Blossom.
Now it seems that Geza himself has realised that people were looking for another something just to take it to the next level, so he has created three new fragrances . One with Mandarin, one with patchouli and one with mandarin.
So Oor Frances and I headed to Scentsations in Troon, our favourite perfume shop, to check them out.
It was a no brainer that the patchouli would be glorious. Spray it on and you instantly start sniffing your own wrists or hand or wherever you have sprayed it. Yum yum yum.
We had really been looking forward to trying the Mandarin. It just sounded so enticing. The first spray did deliver the big fruity punch but as it settled down, it had a slightly bitter afternote that just didn’t appeal. It could of course just be my skin.
But the outright winner was a total surprise that we never saw coming - The Iris.
The only way I can describe this it that it smells comforting. It is the smell of childhood and happy memories. I can’t remember if my Mum ever wore Iris. She wore a lot of rose and lily of the valley. Although I’m not sure if that’s what was triggering the memory as Frances said the exact same thing.
It’s not often I would urge you buy perfume ‘blind’ but I would without hesitation when it comes to these.
