It’s all in the eyes....

“Get off me, you’re sad”

Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable

For the last couple of weeks I keep coming across this Cesar A Cruz quote above.

Every time I read it I think of the recent work of Artist Chelsea Leopold.

Even when I close my eyes I can see some of her images burned onto the back of my eyelids.

I look at her work and into the eyes of her subjects and wonder what the hell they are thinking.

Identity is like the truth, everyone perceives it differently. The truth is, identity is a creature in a constant state of change and disarray. A creature with eyes and hands, that is built and destroyed by anything and everyone.

I’m afraid I can’t tell you much about Chelsea, only what her website says. Sometimes that is a good thing as it just lets her work speak for itself

"Chelsea Leopold is a fine artist with a focus on abstracted realism. She is best known for her drawings which incorporate scribbling and general chaos.
She graduated from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia in 2012. She currently works and resides in sunny California, often feeling bad about not being outside enough"
