Marc goes MASSIVE...
Queen Michelle has a saying - “go big or go home”
Well for his return to the runway (or rather the library) Marc Jacobs has taken her at her word with his Fall 21 collection.
He’s not gone big.
He’s gone MASSIVE
HUGE coats. HUGE platforforms. ULTRA HUGE LOGOS
And its all rather wonderful and such fun.
Unlike other designers who have dabbled in digital shows this was his first show in two seasons.
Taking place last week in the esteemed and beloved halls of the New York Public Library and projected on the exterior walls of Bergdorf Goodman, it was the first major real life fashion show in New York since the pandemic started and oh what show it was.
Puffer coats and snoods that gave me serious Moncler vibes and futuristic 1960s space age references and huge nods to designers like Courrèges, Paco Rabanne, Halston and even Rick Owens…
The show was called HAPPINESS and he wrote this on the show notes…
“On the journey back to doing what we love most, in the wake of immeasurable loss, loneliness, fear, anxiety, and uncertainty, I am reminded of why creativity is so vital to our existence,”
He’s not a designer I wear but as I type this I’m waiting on a pair of his Peanuts Comic Sneakers arriving.
These will make me happy every time I look down at my own feet.
