Delight in the drape

Today we are going to look at draping with Dries.

Ahhhhh Baron Van Noten. How I love him.

The Fall 21/22 collection had totally escaped my notice. Don’t know about you but during lockdown I couldn’t really face looking at much fashion. All those clothes and no where to go in them, it was all too depressing.

I can’t believe I almost missed out on some of his most captivating things for years. If I had not been prowling around on Net a Porter it may have eluded me altogether.

What totally delighted me were all the pieces featuring draping. Many of which were the result of tromp l’oiel printing effects. Even more wonderful many of the things I loved most are now in the sale.

Just take a look at the maxi dress below, now reduced to £586, it looks like you could almost reach out and stroke that velvet…

Tis oversized dress below comes in blue and pink and I love the chartreuse colour of the bow.

For drop dead old Hollywood glamour, just look at this pink satin drape number

Dries Van Noten enlisted a crew of models and dancers to showcase the Fall '21 collection at the deSingel art center in Antwerp. Filmed by the director and photographer Casper Sejersen under strict covid restrictions, it is so captivating and wonderful to just sit and watch all of these clothes in motion…

Have a lovely Saturday

PS - It’s Sunday and I just went to look at these things again. The net-a-porter sale has ended and they have all disappeared. I’ve checked Yoox and The Outnet but there is no sign of them there yet. They will surely appear on one of those sites soon. x
