Signets with Seb...
I have a soft spot for signet rings.
My dear Dad had worn his so long that it had almost become paper thin. I can’t think about signet rings and not think about him. He was also prone to a nice gemstone. He often wore black opal rings that I had bought for him over the years, so I’m pretty sure that he would be rather taken by the work of Seb Brown
The Melbourne based jewellery designer switched from graphic design to jewellery in 2009.
There is a graphic element to my work, particularly with the use of negative space and how I lay out stones on the face (and sides) of my signet rings. Texture also comes into play, which is much easier to achieve in metal than on screen or paper.
He works with negative space and texture to realise roughly refined signet rings - each of which is handmade to order by trained artisans, using recycled metals and locally sourced stones.
You can find a wonderful selection for work over at Liberty.
Safe to say that Rupert would be spoiled for choice…
