Oh piss off Pantone...

As much as I love Pantone and I do I really do, sometimes even I am exasperated to the point where I just want to shout “oh piss off Pantone”
Which is exactly what I did last night when I read about their trend forecast for New York Fashion Week in Fall/Winter 2023/2024. According to them them - “Colors reach out beyond what we think is possible to catapult us into this new era, taking us to a place where boundaries of time, place, and identity are no longer fixed. A friendly mix of joyful tones and traditional shades recontextualized with a modern edge, colors for NYFW Autumn/Winter 2023/2024 express a step up in tempo, serving as a vehicle for vitality and enthusiasm, this season’s colors bring about limitless self-expression and encourage us to awake and enjoy the autumn/winter season.”
What does that even mean? Just reading that was giving me serious ‘Cerulean blue’ vibes from The Devil Wears Prada.
Naming the colours they anticipate going big in 2024 include 10 hues including peach, reds, and a blue embodying the rare lapis lazuli stone are some of the colours to look out for on the runway. Also in the mix is ‘Viva Magenta’, PANTONE’s 2023 Color of the Year.

They have also picked five neutral tones which they have dubbed ‘New Classics’…

These include Coconut Milk (PANTONE 11-0608 TCX)” a milky white with a hint of mild flavor.”
and Hot Fudge (PANTONE 19-0913 TCX) “Deliciously delectable, Hot Fudge tempts the taste buds.”
That’s white and brown to you and I 🙄
