Sometimes you walk into a shop and find yourself in a whole new world.

A world full of wonderful things.

Things that are so much better than anything you have at home. So much better that you instantly want to run home, throw out every single thing that you own and start again.

Godshot Studio in Shawlands is exactly that kind of shop.

Having walked past several times in the last year without going in, Our Frances and I popped in last weekend and immediately started squealing with excitement ( on the inside obviously, we’re not that crazy)

This shop and cafe is small but perfectly formed and filled with treaure. The space in the heart of Southside Glasgow launched in June 2021 delivering speciality coffee, design-led functional objects, and a selection of fine patisserie, freshly baked in house by owner Sam Amdaji along with patisserie chef Lesley Tang. The end goal is to provide a sensory experience with a focus on detail, quality for their customers.

Our studio pivots around Nordic and Japanese sensibilities.We seek contemporary designers and makers, upholding the tenets of craftsmanship to produce objects, furniture, lighting and accessories that meet modern needs for function, comfort and beauty.

Even more important than delicious coffee, cakes and pastries, is the fact that they may be the stockists of the most perfect selection of perfumes I have come across in many a long day.

Anyone who has been reading KOS for any length of time knows how much I love perfumes that smell of trees and earth, that wonderful outside smell. It’s not an easy smell to find or get right but Hetkinen from Finland have cracked it.

These natural fragrances are inspired by the clean forests and trees of the north. They use needles, leaves, bark, roots, and resin from the trees in various ways in the fragrance formula.

Both fragrances have their famous pine oil, which is used in other Hetkinen products as well. The fragrance consists of 100% natural oils, absolutes, fragrance components, and organic alcohol. The fragrances are unisex, and they adapt to their own personal scent on each skin/garment
