Having a whale of a time...

I’m not one for really sharing things that most of us can’t afford. The same goes for things that I even spend time looking at, in the hope that one day a big lottery win comes my way.

But I could not resist showing you this house. Hell, I think I would even try to survive the California heat and sunshine if it meant I could spend some time here.

Currently for sale by Sotheby’s International Realty, this is ‘The Whale House’ and it can be yours for a mere $3.25 million dollars.

Safe to say to say it’s a lot more stylish in there than the mouth of dear old Monstro the whale who swallowed Guiseppe and Pinocchio…

It’s the creation of Michael Carmichael who designed and built it in 1978, inspired by the swooping organic shapes of architect Antonio Gaudi.

It goes without saying, you enter the house through the whales mouth to find 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a guest house without a straight line or a flat wall in sight. Nestled away in the forests of Santa Barbara and covered in cedar shingles it sits perfectly among the surrounding trees on half an acre of land . Light shines into each unique space thanks to the 270 Belgian stained glass windows…

The belly of the whale is a stunning interior courtyard with tables, chairs and even a bamboo-lined outdoor shower for when you need to cool off.

It even comes with its own secret grotto and a rock lined lap pool ( although let’s not kid ourselves, no matter how luxurious, I’m not getting in that pool, hahaha)

Needless to say you would all be very welcome to join me in the garden for some tea and cake.
