A Digestible Thing

Another of the graduates which really stood out for me was Sarika Pancholi, of De Montfort University, who's knitwear collection, ‘A Digestible Thing for a Western Audience’, is a celebration of colour and texture. She has fused her Indian culture with British knitwear techniques beautifully.

Sarika said of her collection: “This whole collection for me is about colour and texture; textures which are created using unconventional methods and products to knit with, such as rubber and plastics."

She cleverly incorporates everyday objects into her work such as shoelaces and straws, and keeps everything looking really contemporary with considered little details like flashes of neon.

Sarika won the David Band Textiles Award for her collection and was offered an internship with River Island as knitwear assistant, as well as a placement with Indian based designers Shyamal and Bhumika.

I think we'll be seeing lots of more of this talented 22 year old.
