Minimalism For A Monday
Cecilie Bahnsen is an LVMH Prize finalist and a Copenhagen native who returned to her home town to found her label in 2015 after studying at the Royal College of Art in London.
After working with couture houses in Paris, she describes her work as being in “the intersection of couture and ready-to-wear”, which seems to mean her work has the simplicity of ready-to-wear with small elements of couture, such as some luxurious fabrics and finishes. Her creations are described as “celebrating the traditions of fine French fashion and the design culture of Scandinavia”.
Her work isn’t affordable for the majority of people, with one her plain cotton dresses will cost nearly £1000, so instead with brands like this I like to look upon them as merely inspiration, then we can source more realistically priced pieces that have a nod to the look and feel. I’ve sourced some high street items that are budget friendly but will make you feel every bit as whimsical.
