Please Madam, don't eat my armchair...
My Mum was a brilliant baker. Her sponges and shortbread were delicious although I don't remember her ever making gingerbread. I’m guessing that’s because she worked for a few years in the office of Kirriemuir Gingerbread and was probably sick to the back teeth of it.
This year Ikea has launched a kit to help people make gingerbread furniture this year. There are six different furniture ideas, and the kits are available for free online.
It includes bite-sized designs of some of their most iconic pieces including a bed, armchair and book case.
The replica furniture looks amazing once it has been pieced together and there is always room for some artistic flair with books, pillows and table decorations easily created from left over dough.
The Gingerbread Höme assembly kits, which can be downloaded and printed out at home, resemble the company's traditional instruction manuals, including everything from the inventory to the step-by-step illustrations.
There are six designs in total, including the Malm bedframe, Rens rug, Strandmon armchair, Billy bookcase, Lack table and Jokkmokk table and chairs.
Ikea say the furniture transforms the humble gingerbread house into a gingerbread home.
Home sweet home.
