Implement Blue....
In these strange strange days, lots of people seem to be keeping themselves very busy.
Keeping fit, taking up new hobbies, playing with hair and makeup. Much as I admire their get up and go I can’t say I am following suit.
I have mostly been looking at pictures, drinking tea and thinking how much I really need to try and declutter my house.
The one picture I have returned to over and over again this week is Implement Blue by Margaret Preston.
I’m embarassed to say I was unfamiliar with her wonderful work
Margaret Rose Preston (29 April 1875 – 28 May 1963) was an Australian painter and printmaker who is regarded as one of Australia's leading modernists of the early 20th century.[1] In her quest to foster an Australian "national art", she was also one of the first non-Indigenous Australian artists to use Aboriginal motifs in her work
I’m wondering if I’m loving it so much because of the similarity to the work of The Scottish Colourists especially my favourite F.C.B Cadell.
It could be of course, that I just like looking of pictures of teacups because that reminds me of my most favourite thing to do and not just in a pandemic - drink tea.
Where would we be without it? I shudder to think.
Hope everyone is keeping safe and well.
Queen Marie
