The Dark World Of Sandrine

I’m in a dark place, Emotionally and stylistically. I’m seeking out brand and labels that lean in that direction and Sandrine Philippe is one. Sandrine has worked for designers such as Popy Moreni and Courrèges before starting her independent line in 1998.

For each collection Sandrine Philippe provides a visual insight into the depths of her mind by collaborating with a new team of photographers, graphic designers and choreographers in order to bring a different dynamic to her atypical universe. Her work is beautifully undone and each piece has the look of a being a survivor garment.

The universe of Sandrine Philippe is at times oneiric, romantic and worrying. Oscillating between a range of subtleties and the balance of light and dark, her designs both singular and artisanal, seem to tell a story of places lost, usage and time passed. Fabric manipulation is the underlying root of her creations and materials can often be found burnt, hand-dyed or restitched. Constantly in search of a new aesthetic Sandrine combines comfort with poetic sensibilities.

Indie labels are hard to afford nowadays sadly, so these kind of unique brands are pretty much only there to serve as inspiration. But what beautiful inspiration it is indeed.
