Whole Lotta Rocha
Simone Rocha knows how to make whimsical clothing that don’t venture too far into sickly twee or child-like.
Her SS20 collection reminded me so much of Midsommar (watch it if you haven’t seen it, even if only for the stunning cinematography). Dresses with a folkish charm you’d expect to see worn by cultish girls dancing hypnotically in the sunshine around floral totem poles, and her raffia macramé bags look like straw.
The folk motif was in the extreme, with chintzy floral patterns that looks like you’d find on grannies best china and frills aplenty. The red pieces are particularly stunning. Her signature sheer layers were present, which is what originally made me fall in love with the Rocha aesthetic in the place.
How glorious it would be to finally be released from lockdown wearing some thing like this!
