sew your own shoes...
As Queen of the DIY there is nothing that Michelle won’t try.
I pretty sure though, that even she has not made her own shoes.
I thought of her at immediately when I read about the footwear concept of designer iga węglińska of ‘shifted shoes’, a footwear concept designed to be hand sewed at home. By following easy instructions users can create by themselves the design pieces to assemble their own shoes, utilizing materials and colours of their choice. The construction guide includes all the steps one by one and the necessary materials and tools that are required.
It doesn’t hurt either that there is a slight Rick Owens vibe to them too.
There is hidden magic in a shoe. We wear them all our lives, even some fairy tales are devoted to them. They play a vital role in the quality of our lifestyle.
The shoes are part of an open design series consisted of three fashion pieces: ‘gloving jumper’, ‘shifted shoes’ and ‘naked ring’.
The collection was created as an open-source design to be made at home, including different difficulty scales of execution, while using various techniques. – from hand sewing using home-printed patterns, to machine sewing and 3D printing. all three designs are available on creative commons license with non-commercial use.
Happy weekend everyone.
