Take A Seat

I’m spending so little time outside the house these days that I have turned my attention back to interiors and steadily away from fashion. I have bought more house stuff lately than clothing.

My current (unattainable) obsession is the work of industrial designer and cabinet-maker, Jonas Søndergaard Nielsen. His work has that quintessential Scandinavian minimalism only they seem able to master.

He began his journey into the world of design as a cabinet-maker for JC-snedkeri in Roedovre, Denmark. As a young apprentice, he showed great skills as he won 1st price in the Nordic and the Danish national Championship of cabinet-making.

This gave him the spot as the Danish representative at the Worldskills 2005 held that year in Finland.

from 2007-2010 he traveled to south of Spain where he attended the Marbella Design Academy to study furniture and interior design.

After Spain Jonas returned to Copenhagen to get his MA in Industrial Design at the The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. In 2016 he finished his studies and are now working as in-house-designer at UMAGE in Copenhagen, Denmark.

At UMAGE Jonas has designed many furniture, including the Audacious Cabinet, Hang Out Sofa table, My spot sidetable, Ambitions desk, One More look mirror & the Lean On Me Cloth Hanger.
