Healthy and Happy...
Happy New Year Everyone.
Here is hoping that it is a healthy and happy one for us all. My gran always used to say that ‘ health is wealth’ and it’s not until you get older you realise exactly how true that is. No matter what else is going on in this big bad world, if you have your health you are truly blessed.
The festive season was quiet here at KOS and after last year, that was exactly what was called for, especially after the hellish time that Queen Michelle and Prince B had last year.
Although it already seems ages ago, Krakow was wonderful.
To be honest I didn’t really know what to expect so it all came as a wonderful surprise. It was so much grander than I imagined. The architecture and buildings were stunning and the history was palpable on every single street. The wealth and the grandeur had us wandering around with our mouths wide open. To make things even more perfect for our Frances there was heavy snowfall which made everything look picture perfect.
From Wawel Castle high on the hill to the salt mines deep deep underground, it was like being transported back in time…
However our biggest gasps of delight were reserved for the churches and chapels which are everywhere. Words can really express the glory of them. Soaring ceilings, glittering gold leaf, tender statues and figurines, every one you entered was more staggering than the last. Of course it goes without saying that John Paul II beloved son of the city was everywhere. I even brought back some Pope socks.
That’s not a sentence I ever thought I would say.
I’m not making any resolutions as we head into the New Year. I never keep them.
Instead I’ll wish for peace and happiness for us all.
Queen Marie
