Fetching frocks for a Friday...
Hello! I need to start by apologising for the tardiness and the sporadic nature of my posting recently.
I place the blame for that squarely at the feet of ‘The Kraken’. That is what I have taken to calling my very troublesome gallbladder. By the time I get in from work at night and depending on how much he is ‘kicking off’, I’m afraid I have little energy to write, research or share anything lovely.
Talking of lovely, I would like to shine a light on the work of Naya Rea.
Founded in 2018, this London based brand embodies the power and beauty of storytelling. Each garment produced is inspired by traditional lore and interwoven with one-of-a-kind hand painted prints, subtle detailing and unique embroidery so as you can imagine it is right up my street.
Just look at the Mirabella dress…
The majority of their collections are made in Ukraine, in small family-owned factories that are run by women The core of the brand lies in consciously supporting and empowering women to use their voices and tell their stories.
Sadly the majority of things are far too youthful for me to actually considering wearing but it doesn’t lessen their charm for a single moment.
It also feels like a modern take on Georgian and Regency fashions. If Elizabeth Bennet was about to take Mr Darcy to task, I could very much picture her in frocks like these…
I don’t know about you but I’ve got such a notion to watch Pride and Prejudice now…
